Keep yourself and others safe from fatal overdose.

Using substances alone increases someone's risk of fatal overdose. SafeSpot is a 24/7 hotline serving Connecticut and other states across the United States. If someone is using substances alone, call SafeSpot, and work with a trained operator to create a safety plan and prevent overdose.

SafeSpot aims to meet people where they are and prevent overdose. The hotline does not collect personal or demographic information such as race, gender, or ethnicity. Any information that is collected during a phone call is used for emergency purposes only, and is not stored after the call is concluded.

SafeSpot is not a treatment access or recovery helpline. For 24/7 Treatment Access in Connecticut, please call 1 (800) 563-4086.

  • SafeSpot operators are trained to monitor individuals when they use substances, and activate an agreed-upon emergency safety plan in case of an overdose. Safety plans are unique, and established during each call.
  • If an individual isn't sure about how SafeSpot works or wants to learn more, any individual can call SafeSpot for a practice call when they are not using substances. A trained operator will be happy to walk them through what the process looks like in real time.
