Fentanyl
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine, but is 50–100 times more potent.
What is fentanyl?
Fentanyl is a prescription opioid drug that is used to treat severe pain. It is also made and used illegally, and often mixed into other illegal drugs as a cheap but dangerous additive. Because fentanyl is so potent, it is highly addictive and carries a great risk of overdose. Illegal fentanyl is most often associated with recent overdoses in Connecticut and across the U.S.
